In a world of endless possibilities, why did the elites settle on oligarchy?
The answer, of course, is that man’s nature doesn’t change. Accumulating power corrupts everyone into nothing more than addicts waiting for their next fix, surviving on the cheers from inside their perfectly manicured echo chamber.
The current version of America’s ruling class pretends to be bitter rivals in the gladiator-esque arena of politics. But outside the view of their rose-colored glasses, the reality is less of a roman colosseum a more like the decimated public sidewalks of the cities they represent.
Our leaders shuffle around D.C. like junkies wondering if the next room they walk into will have enough of the “good stuff” to sustain their cravings. Like all addictive substances, it never does and never will.
